In 1971, police interrupted three teen-agers practicing a climb of Yosemite on the Mount Davidson Cross. Six years later the San Francisco Examiner reported on February 16, 1977 of a Mt. Davidson mystery: “Last night, someone apparently made it to the 103-foot summit and followed the tradition of planting a flag. Police removed it this morning, but apparently were without clues as to who did it or how or why it was done. (Courtesy Ted, Brendan, Don Quixote, and Sancho Batman)
